Water Safety
In Te Maunga we did water safety with Tracey. We learnt about how to be safe around the water.
These are some of the rules that she told us:
1. Check the weather
2. Throw a stick in the water to see if the current or the rip is strong or weak
3. Never swim alone
4. Tell Coastguards if you go out in a boat
5. Never go swimming with a teenager supervising you
6. Take an adult with you
And also !!!!!!!DO NOT USE FLOATIES!!!!!!!!

Rebecca Brothers
In Te Maunga we have been learning about Rebecca Brothers. We had to make a Google Drawing in our Other folder and we had to write appropriate Questions to ask Rebecca Brothers. Rebecca Brothers Won 249 Medals 117 were Gold, 49 Bronze and 90 Silver. I learnt that you can do anything if you try hard.

Geometry
This Term in Te Maunga we have been learning about Geometry and about Shapes and sorts of
different Shapes I don’t know about but the easy thing was counting the sides, edges
and the corners but the hard thing was counting which one was the angles.

Flubber
In Te Maunga this term we have been making lots of experiments inspired by fractions in Maths all we needed was Warm Water, PVA Glue and Borax .
4 ¼ of Water (1 Cup)
4 Cups of PVA Glue
and 4 teaspoons of Borax.
so we added it all together but it DID not work and it didn’t work because we we added too much water and so it didn’t work and it was too sticky.

Kaimoana
In Te Maunga we have been learning about Te Reo Māori Food/Kai. We made a Google slides in our Te Reo folder and named it Kai, we also had Whaea Lisa in teaching us some Maori words and Mrs Pou made us eat different sorts of food and we had to see if it was Reka/Sweet or Kawa/Sour. We say that a Pineapple was a Painaporo and i thought the Painaporo was yum and Reka.

Math Problem Solving
In Te Maunga we have been doing Math Problem Solving everyday after Morning Tea time and we work out big numbers in our group to solve them and we did our Wingspan and Height. Our Wingspan is how long both our arms rezh out . We do math solving for Matariki. I work with Nikara and Kayden in my group. We use our talk moves and we collaborate together. We always work out what the question is asking us to solve.

Matariki
On Tuesday Te Maunga we went on a trip to Waitangi Treaty Grounds with Te Tahuna. When we got to the Treaty grounds we did some games and the first thing we did was weaving Nikau flax and making Angel fish out of the Nikau flax then we did some Māori games the first Māori game was Maui - Matau it was really fun, then we played Kīte after that we went to go planting. I planted a Nikau flax in the Matariki garden. We went to celebrate Matariki the Māori New Year.

He tino Reka He tino Kawa
In Te Maunga we made a slide presentation & we named it Kai & saved it in Te Reo Maori and on slide 5 we titled it Reka & Kawa. We made a Table one side for Reka & one for Kawa before we made this slide we tried some sour food and sweet food some were sour and some were sweet then we made our slide and the food that was sweet we put in Reka and the ones that were sour went in Kawa. Then we had to write He tino Reka & He tino Kawa & put them in the correct side of the Table.

Rocky Shore
At the start of WEEK 2 on we were learning a new topic for Inquiry about Te Moana and Te Tahuna. We created a Google Drawing and we named it RS then our name. We had to compare Paihia’s rocky shore to what a rocky shore should look like. Then we were allowed to add some photos if we wanted. I learnt that our rocky shore should not look like it does now it should have much bigger sea creatures and way less pollution.
